Former Liverpool star analyses the one thing Klopp got wrong last season

Former liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant has suggested that former Reds manager Jurgen Klopp made a mistake by not playing Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch in the number six role in front of their back four last season.

Pennant said: “First of all, I think if Klopp does this Liverpool could end up winning the title. That’s the thing about Ryan Gravenberch and the role he plays in the ยูฟ่าเบท team. What he’s shown at the moment, I think he’s been fantastic. I think Jurgen Klopp missed something when he decided to play Wataru Endo there all last season.”

“I think if Liverpool had played Gravenberch there last season, they would have beaten Manchester City. Of course, they would have been even more successful because you can see how important that position is for the team and what Gravenberch does.”

Last season, Klopp used Endo as the main defensive midfielder in front of the back four, with Gravenberch playing as a number 8, before new Liverpool coach Arne Slot adjusted the 22-year-old to play as a number 6 and exploded into form again.

Gravenberch has been a key man for Liverpool this season, making nine appearances in all competitions, helping the team to address last season’s shortage of reliable holding midfielders.
